About Dr. David Asselin, DPT
Dr. David Asselin is a Grand Rapids native and graduate of East Kentwood High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Michigan State University and began his professional career as a Certified Public Accountant, working in Grand Rapids and Denver with BDO Seidman. While successful in accounting, Dr. Asselin recognized that his true calling lay elsewhere and chose a path of service and personal growth by joining the Peace Corps, where he spent several years in Tonga as a youth volunteer.
Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Asselin volunteered in a hospital setting, where he discovered his passion for physical therapy. He completed the required science prerequisites and was accepted into Grand Valley State University’s inaugural Doctor of Physical Therapy program, graduating in 2007.
Following graduation, Dr. Asselin began his clinical career at a local practice specializing in manual therapy. Early in his practice, he identified the role of heteronymous stretch reflexes in movement dysfunction, which led him to develop a unique treatment philosophy and clinical approach. In 2009, he founded PT 360 Physical Therapy, where he provided specialized care for a diverse patient population, including professional dancers from the Grand Rapids Ballet for over eight years, as well as Olympic and professional athletes. His innovative methods and results-driven care have distinguished him within the field of physical therapy.
In 2021, Dr. Asselin joined Good Life Physical Therapy, where he practiced until 2024. In July 2024, he founded Body Energetics Physical Therapy, allowing him to deliver highly individualized advanced care. Dr. Asselin is deeply committed to sharing his knowledge with fellow clinicians, believing that advancing clinical understanding is key to helping patients recover more efficiently by addressing the root causes of musculoskeletal imbalance.
Dr. Asselin’s athletic background further informs his clinical practice. He was an All-American athlete in high school and a four-year All–Big Ten water polo athlete at Michigan State University. This experience provides him with a deep understanding of athletic performance, mindset, and the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle. He works with individuals of all ages and activity levels, tailoring his approach to meet each patient’s unique needs.
In addition to evidence-based physical therapy, Dr. Asselin has expanded his skill set to include alternative healing modalities and is a Level II Reiki Practitioner. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys swimming, hiking, and camping.
